This summer, the Swedish event management company Brandspot and the Swedish America’s Cup challenger Artemis Racing will be bringing the action filled America’s Cup World Series to Gothenburg.
Brandspot has worked with international sailing events for many years and the company is currently involved in both the Volvo Ocean Race finish and Stena Match Cup Sweden on the Swedish west coast. The summer of 2015 will be a busy season for the event managing company, as they will also be managing the America’s Cup World Series event in Gothenburg in the end of August on behalf of Artemis Racing.
“It is an incredibly exciting project for us and we are proud to play a part in bringing one of the most prestigious events in sports to a broad Swedish audience, and making Gothenburg an arena for the most exciting form of sailing in the world”, says Cecilia Haraldson, Senior Project Manager at Brandspot.
“We’re very excited to be working with Brandspot to host this stage of the America’s Cup World Series in Gothenburg. Brandspot’s extensive experience & local knowledge gives us great confidence that this will be a spectacular event, and as a Swedish team, we are of course looking forward to racing on home waters in front of a home crowd”, says Iain Percy, Artemis Racing Team Manager.
With history dating back to 1851, the America’s Cup is among the world’s oldest sporting trophies. In the modern version of the event, the biggest stars in sailing compete in short races close to shore in catamarans that literally fly above the water at up to 40 knots of speed. “The Cup” is a unique experience for spectators and big efforts are made to make the TV-production from the event exciting and easy to follow.
In the America’s Cup World Series, international teams will compete to gather points that they will be bringing in to the America’s Cup Qualifiers in Bermuda 2017. The series plays an important part in deciding which team that will get to challenge Oracle Team USA in the 35th edition of the America’s Cup. The event in Gothenburg takes place on August 27th -30th, and the Race Village will be situated in the heart of the city.
